With an adult population that ranges from young adults to those in the “Senior” years of their lives Kallam Grove strives to offer a varied program of activities that will enrich lives, feed the spirit, and provide fun social interactions that strengthen relationships among members.
There are two adult Sunday School classes with varied curriculum to meet interests and spiritual needs of any adult. Bible classes have periodically been offered by the minister to reach adults interested in more in depth studies as well as an adult class at Vacation Bible School.
A social group that has formed in the past year, called the “Grovers’ Diners” invites all who are interested to meet once a month for a group evening out at an area restaurant. Volunteers take turns acting as the host/hostess selecting a local restaurant or one in a nearby town, and making the reservations for the group. Attendance has ranged from around 20 to the mid-30s and have been evenings of good food, friendship, and fun. Other social events included an Amtrack ride to attend the NC State Fair in Raleigh, a trip to Lake Junaluska to hear Christmas music, a bus trip to Wolfhaus Theater for a dinner play, and a trip to Barn Dinner Theater for dinner and play.
Women of the church organized “Festival of Tables” events and will be holding the third event this September. Getting older in the church does not mean “retiring” the spirit as our members are constantly involved in committees, boards, and leadership positions, singing in the choir, helping with mission projects, and in coordinating and financing youth and children events. Kallam Grove strives to provide studies, events, and social opportunities to bond all age groups into a vibrant family of God that recognizes, respects, and utilizes the talents of all ages.
